
A fatal shooting at a Gardena restaurant has sparked a homicide investigation, as authorities seek the suspect responsible. CBS Los Angeles reports the incident occurred around 8 p.m. Saturday at Salvimex Restaurant, located on the 18100 block of Vermont Avenue, resulting in the death of a man in his mid-30s.
The suspect, described as a man in his late 40s by FOX Los Angeles, approached the victim was seated, and opened fire before fleeing in an unknown vehicle there's an ongoing search for the suspect but he has yet to be located, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Police have not confirmed whether the restaurant functioned as an illegal casino, a claim some have proposed, a status which remains unverified as of the latest updates.
As noted by Daily Breeze, the Salvmex Restaurant is near the Gardena city limit, and the victim, who has yet to be formally identified, was shot multiple times; the motive, whether personal or gang-related, remains undetermined by authorities. OnScene.TV captured images of the active crime scene, depicting police and crime scene tape barricading the area, which have circulated in local news feeds.
Further investigations have revealed that the victim and the assailant were considered "regulars" at the establishment yet it is still unknown if the suspect and the victim were acquainted, while no description of the suspect or his vehicle, was readily made available after the incident as reported by KTLA, and the victim suffered at least one gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene.
