A recent interim report released by the House Judiciary Committee, along with its Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement, has put a spotlight on what they describe as the rampant fraud within the Biden-Harris administration's parole program for migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela. Titled "The Biden-Harris Administration's CHNV Parole Program Two Years Later: A Fraud-Ridden, Unmitigated Disaster," the document alleges widespread misuse and loopholes in the parole system. As the House Judiciary Committee explores, several cases have surfaced involving applicants who submitted fraudulent materials or admitted to using funds from criminal activities for their U.S. support plans.
According to the findings, there've been instances of supporter applications granted to individuals residing outside the designated CHNV countries, totaling over 80,000 aliens. While the claims of fraud and the subsequent granting of parole to these individuals have raised considerable concerns among the committee members, the broader accusation is that such policies might be compromising the well-being of American communities and national security interests.
The Biden-Harris Administration's U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has come under fire in the report for allegedly overlooking essential safeguards in the approval process. Critics have pointed out that some applicants admitted to using public benefits as a part of their income, which was listed as evidence that they could support a CHNV alien. The program has been labeled an "unmitigated disaster" by the committee due to these and other oversight failures, alleging a staggering half a million CHNV parolees have been let into U.S. communities without proper vetting.
Supporters of the program have not responded to the report’s accusations. However, the Biden-Harris administration has promoted the parole program as a humanitarian effort to help those in need. The committee disagrees, arguing that the administration has prioritized resettling thousands of illegal immigrants over the best interests of Americans.
