Jose Torres, a 37-year-old dispatcher for the Spring Branch Independent School District Police Department, died after being shot outside his home in northwest Houston. According to Click2Houston, the incident occurred on Friday while Torres was in his yard on Mallard Stream Court.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office is investigating the case and confirmed that property was missing from the home. The Torres family, expecting him to pick them up from school that afternoon, was instead left waiting until another relative gave them a ride. Upon returning home, they found Torres had been shot. According to FOX26 Houston, investigators are gathering video from nearby homes to find more evidence.
The Spring Branch ISD Police Department described Torres as a hardworking, kind-hearted man devoted to his family. "Jose leaves behind a wife and two beautiful daughters," the statement said, adding, "He was taken from us by a senseless act of violence while he worked to make a better life for his family," as reported by Click2Houston.
