Authorities have apprehended and filed charges against Enrique Malaquias Bonilla, age 21, in connection with the death of Sostenos Briones, who was 23 years old. Bonilla now faces a murder charge in the 185th State District Court, as per an update from the Houston Police Department.
A disturbing discovery led to this turn of events when HPD patrol officers responded to an apartment complex at 1550 Leona Street on September 26 around 6:50 p.m. Houston Fire Department paramedics found Briones dead with blunt force trauma to his torso, situated in the breezeway, which is inconveniently located between the parking garage and an apartment building.
The Houston Police Department's Homicide Division detectives, P. Michon and D. Davis, led the subsequent investigation. Their efforts identified Bonilla as a primary suspect in the fatal incident.
Last Thursday, as outlined in the department's news release, Bonilla was apprehended by officers with the Central Patrol Division Crime Suppression Team. During the arrest, made by the team tasked with suppressing crime, Bonilla admitted to his involvement in Briones' death. Following his admission, the charges were formally brought against him.
