The Houston Police Department is currently investigating an incident that took place inside the Ralston Discount Liquor store in southwest Houston. Tikisha King, a 29-year-old woman, was found shot to death yesterday afternoon. According to ABC13 Houston, King, who managed the store located on South Post Oak near West Fuqua, was discovered by a colleague at approximately 12:45 p.m., having sustained multiple bullet wounds.
As details about King’s personal life and her connections within the community emerge, friends and acquaintances are speaking out. "She was a hard worker. She had goals," said Destiny Bradley, a friend since elementary school who helped King secure her job at the liquor store nearly two years ago. Customers of the store expressed surprise, stating that King was well-liked and did not appear to have any conflicts with others. "She don't have no kind of enemies. No nothing. Nobody's going to harm her. She don't have that type of problems," Bradley told ABC13 Houston.
Amidst the investigation, personal details of King's life paint a picture of a woman coping with previous trauma. Friends say she was still mourning the loss of an ex-boyfriend, who died in a shooting three years ago, "She was still taking it hard," Bradley revealed, in a statement obtained by ABC13. The recent breakup with another boyfriend also adds context, as Bradley mentioned that King had ended the relationship because "She didn't want to be with him. She had someone else she was with, so she didn't want to be with him." These personal anecdotes create a narrative while police continue to search for concrete evidence.
Details of the investigation are limited at this time, but authorities are reviewing camera footage and other evidence from the business where the victim was discovered. Meanwhile, police have not yet released any information regarding potential suspects in the case.
