A fatal accident that occurred last Saturday has led to the arrest and charging of 29-year-old Ana Contreras. According to a statement from the Houston Police Department, the crash took place at 600 North Eldridge Parkway at roughly 1:05 a.m.
The incident resulted in the death of a 23-year-old woman, a passenger in the vehicle driven by Contreras. The victim's identity remains unverified as the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences continues their inquiry. Contreras has been charged with intoxication manslaughter and is currently hospitalized, preventing authorities from providing a booking photograph at this time.
HPD's Vehicular Crimes Division, under the guidance of Sergeant J. Richards and Officer J. Johnson, reported that Contreras was driving a gray Honda Accord at high speeds when she attempted to change lanes, subsequently striking a curb, driving off the sidewalk, and colliding with a tree. The Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the 23-year-old passenger deceased at the scene, while Contreras, and another passenger, also 29, were transported to a local hospital with stable conditions.
After an assessment, it was determined that Contreras was impaired at the time of the crash. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was consulted, after which charges were filed against Contreras for her involvement in the fatal accident.
