Howard County Police are continuing their search for Fernando Lara Aldana, a 54-year-old Laurel man reported missing since Wednesday, and are now contacting the community for assistance. According to Howard County Police, Aldana was last spotted near T. Howard Duckett Park in Laurel around 10:30 p.m. after leaving his home on the 9400 block of Mayflower Court on foot, heading towards the city center some hours earlier.
The search operation has been extensive, with police making thorough area checks. Drones have been deployed, yet despite the exhaustive efforts, Aldana's whereabouts remain unknown. The concern for Aldana is particularly heightened due to his memory-related medical issues and the fact that he speaks only Spanish. He was last seen wearing a green and white long-sleeve shirt and dark-colored sweatpants with stripes, but notably without shoes, adding a layer of urgency to his safe recovery.
Yesterday, Aldana's cell phone was found near the park, which might provide a clue, but it doesn't ease the worry about his disappearance. Aldana is 5-foot-8, weighs about 200 pounds, has a distinctive scar on his forehead, and has black hair with a matching goatee.
Howard County Police urgently ask anyone who knows where Aldana is or who may have seen him since he went missing to call 911.
