The Superior Court of the Western Judicial Circuit has officially added two new faces to its Juvenile Court bench. Chief Judge Lisa Lott announced the appointment of Amanda Trimble as a full-time judge and Latasha Barnes Prempeh as a part-time judge.

Trimble, who has been serving on the bench since 2016, started her second full-time term on October 1, 2024. Prempeh, stepping into her role as a part-time judge, took her oath of office earlier today, November 1st, at 10:00 AM, at a ceremony in the Athens-Clarke County Courthouse. Lott expressed confidence in the newly appointed judges' abilities to represent and serve the community. In a statement, Chief Judge Lisa Lott said, "We are proud to have Amanda Trimble and Latasha Prempeh serve as our Juvenile Court judges and are confident that their breadth of knowledge and work experience will serve Athens-Clarke County and Oconee County well."

Trimble's robust legal background includes 11 years as an Assistant Public Defender in the Piedmont Judicial Circuit and a federal judicial law clerk stint in the Northern District, further enforced by her academic credentials from Mercer University. Prempeh has been the lead attorney in Juvenile Court as an Assistant Public Defender in the Western Judicial Circuit since 2013, with a legal education from the University of Georgia following her undergraduate degree from Macon State College.

The Juvenile Court is tasked with handling various cases involving youth under 17 who run afoul of the law or are considered out of parental control. Beyond dealing with issues of delinquency, the court also delves into deprivation cases concerning minors under 18 within its jurisdiction.
