The seventh annual Jupiter Golden Jubilee was held this weekend at Jupiter Dog Beach, bringing together hundreds of golden retrievers. While the event was a fun celebration, it also raised awareness about cancer in the breed.

According to WPTV, this fundraiser supports the Golden Retriever Lifetime Study by the Morris Animal Foundation, which aims to address the alarming statistic that 60% of golden retrievers are affected by cancer. "There’s no age. Some of them are as young as two, some are 14 and that’s what we’re trying to find out, what is causing this, and 60-65% of them will die from cancer," said Charlotte Hertz, Director of the Jupiter Golden Jubilee.

The spirit of the Golden Jubilee remained strong, with over $4,000 raised by Saturday morning for research. The funds will support animal health research, specifically targeting canine cancer.

As participants gathered at the beach, the event celebrated the joyful nature of golden retrievers while connecting them to a larger cause. Hertz expressed the mission clearly in her interview with West Palm News, saying, “We have to find an answer for cancer.”
