During a routine traffic stop in Hawai'i's Puna district on Friday, Community Policing Officers discovered more than expected. They found 42-year-old George-David Summers and Kaleinani Brzezowski, also 42, from Kea‘au, in a black Honda sedan with a visible rifle and arrested them, according to a Hawai‘i Police Department report.

With the weapon in plain view, police took further action. George-David Summers from Waimea, who was driving, faced multiple charges, including drug and firearms offenses. A search of the vehicle revealed a .22 caliber semi-automatic rifle, methamphetamine, smoking pipes, ammunition, and other items, leading to legal proceedings against him.

Summers was unable to post the $173,000 bail following the charges, which incorporated offenses related to the keeping and carrying of loaded firearms as well as drug promotion as outlined by the Hawai‘i Police Department. After his arrest, he made an initial appearance in South Hilo District Court on Tuesday.

Passenger Kaleinani Brzezowski was released while under investigation as prosecutors sought more information. Anyone with relevant details has been encouraged to contact Detective David Po‘ohina by email or phone to assist with the ongoing legal process.
