The Kirkland Municipal Court has announced it is providing limited services due to an ongoing statewide data system outage that began on Monday. Public access to court services has been restricted, and the Court Clerk's Office encouraged patrons to contact the court via phone or email before making an in-person visit. According to the City of Kirkland official announcements, case payments can only be accepted by cash, card, or check at the counter.
Despite the technical issues, hearings on traffic tickets, including those captured by the camera, are set to continue as scheduled, either virtually via Zoom or in person. For those with proceedings in criminal cases, the court has stated, "If you are scheduled for a hearing on a criminal case, you should attend Court on your scheduled date and time." Those needing further assistance or information are advised to contact their attorneys promptly, as detailed by the city's news release.
The outage that caused the disruption remains under investigation, and there is no immediate timeline for when the full functionality of court systems will be restored. Meanwhile, the court is trying to maintain its schedule and obligations to the community, ensuring minimal disruption to legal proceedings where possible.
