A tragic incident unfolded in Osceola County last night when a 16-year-old boy from Kissimmee lost his life after his dirt bike collided with a pole. According to ClickOrlando, the Florida Highway Patrol reported that the accident occurred around 7:45 p.m. on Marigold Avenue, just south of Peabody Road, as the teen swerved to avoid hitting a Chevrolet Traverse and subsequently crashed into a metal pole.
The force of the collision caused both the rider and his 18-year-old male passenger, also from Kissimmee, to be thrown from the bike. The younger teen landed in the direct path of the SUV, following which he was pronounced dead at Poinciana Medical Center. Information detailed by WFTV indicates that his passenger was taken to Osceola Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.
The SUV's occupants, including the driver and two passengers, were unharmed and remained at the scene following the incident. Investigations into the crash are ongoing, but initial reports highlighted that neither of the dirt bike riders was wearing helmets at the time of the accident.
