The Shelby County Sheriff's Office is seeking assistance from the public following a carjacking incident involving a knife-wielding suspect. The crime occurred in the 6400 block of Saddleback Circle, situated in the Hickory Hill area. According to Action News 5, the perpetrator used a kitchen knife to overpower the victim and commandeer their vehicle.
The carjacking, which was also covered by Local Memphis, resulted in minor injuries following a scuffle between the suspect and the victim. The Shelby County Sheriff's Office responded promptly to the scene of the crime, issuing a Be On The Look Out (B.O.L.O) alert for the assailant yesterday. The victim's car was later found, though the suspect remains at large, evading law enforcement and adding tension to the community fabric.
The suspect has been described as wearing a camouflage Tommy Hilfiger coat, black pants, and black Nike shoes. In an incident that seems as abrupt as it was violent, the man wielded what is such a common household tool – a kitchen knife – to instill fear and take possession of someone's means of mobility.
A statement provided by FOX13 Memphis details the initial encounter, "During a fight between the suspect and the victim, the victim suffered from minor injuries." The nature of the crime has prompted the Sheriff's Office to reach out to the public for any information that may lead to the apprehension of the suspect, suggesting a community, beset by sudden violence is now called upon to serve as the eyes and ears of justice.
The Sheriff’s Office and Crime Stoppers are urging anyone with information about this carjacking or the suspect's whereabouts to come forward. Information that could aid in resolving the case can be provided by contacting Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
