Firefighters from the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) and the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) joined forces on November 1st to battle an attic fire in a two-story residential complex in Baldwin Hills/Crenshaw. The fire, reported at 7:28 PM at 3611 W Stocker St, was attacked in offensive mode by responders. According to the initial LAFD alert, no injuries were reported as teams worked to control the flames engulfing the six-plex building.
It took a little over thirty minutes for the 42 firefighters from the LAFD, working alongside an unspecified number of LACoFD personnel, to achieve a knockdown of the blaze. Official reports confirmed that the incident was effectively managed under Unified Command and that the scene was to be transitioned to LACoFD. "KNOCKDOWN: 42 LAFD firefighters worked with (unknown number of) LACoFD," the LAFD update asserted. Media inquiries have since been redirected to the LACoFD as they take the lead on the investigation.
The collaborative effort between the two fire departments exemplifies the structured and effective approach to emergency management within Los Angeles County. The incident occurred in Council District 8 and drew resources including Task Forces 15, 26, and 66, as well as Engines 34, 66, and many other units.
While the LAFD has not released the cause of the fire, the swift response and teamwork demonstrated are testaments to the rigorous training and preparedness of both fire departments. As the aftermath of the fire continues to unfold, the community looks on, awaiting further updates from LACoFD officials about the fire’s origins and the estimated cost of the damages incurred.
