The Lakeland Police Department is actively searching for the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of a 67-year-old woman. The collision occurred shortly after midnight yesterday, and authorities are reaching out to the public for any information that can lead to an arrest. The pedestrian, identified as Robin Brown, was crossing South Florida Avenue from Palmetto Avenue when she was struck by a vehicle described as a 2018-2022 Range Rover Sport 2, possibly gray or silver in color.

Lakeland officials stated that the Range Rover was traveling south on South Florida Avenue and did not stop to render aid to Brown after the crash. The victim was taken to Lakeland Regional Health, where she later died due to the injuries sustained during the incident. The LPD's Traffic Homicide Unit has since taken over the investigation, which led to temporarily shut down the roadway for approximate four and a half hours for processing of the crime scene, reported WFLA.

First responders from the Lakeland Fire Department and Polk County Fire Rescue were at the scene quickly and began lifesaving measures but were unable to save Brown. As the investigation continues, the Lakeland Police Department is urging anyone with information to come forward. Tips can to be sent directly to Officer Camilo Almeida through email at [email protected] or by contacting Heartland Crime Stoppers Florida, as reported by both FOX 13 and Tampa Free Press.

Moreover, anonymous tips can be submitted to Heartland Crime Stoppers by calling 1-888-400-TIPS (8477), texting TIPS to 274637 (CRIMES), or through the Heartland Crime Stoppers website. A cash reward may be available for information that leads to an arrest in this case.
