A 7-year-old child from Lakewood, allegedly abducted by a 26-year-old woman, was found safe in an area outside of Last Chance, Colorado, according to the Lakewood Police Department. An Amber Alert had been issued Monday before authorities located and rescued the child later in the afternoon.
According to Denver7, the Lakewood Police Department confirmed the child was found unharmed near the eastern plains town at approximately 3:45 p.m. Law enforcement officials, including the Colorado State Patrol, were successful in spotting the suspect's vehicle, ensuring the child's safety, and taking the woman into custody.
Rob Albrets, the Public Information Officer for the Lakewood Police Department, expressed relief at the resolution of the situation. "We’re so happy to announce the child and the subject of this Amber Alert was recovered safe and unharmed at about 3:45 this afternoon by Colorado State Patrol troopers outside of a little crossroads called Last Chance, Colorado," Albrets stated in an interview, as reported by KDVR.
As detailed by The Denver Post, the suspect, not the child's mother, is believed to have had a relationship with the boy's father, who was found with a gunshot wound and hospitalized. The exact nature of the charges pending against the woman, known as Denmon, is still being determined at this time.
