The Las Vegas Aces are beefing up their coaching roster with a new addition: Ty Ellis. The team announced that Ellis, who has an extensive background in basketball coaching, including a stint with USA Basketball, will be joining the Aces as an assistant coach. This news comes in the wake of some significant departures from Becky Hammon’s team, as two top assistants have moved on to head coaching positions elsewhere in the WNBA.

Ellis' experience includes roles as an assistant coach for USA Basketball's men's teams and as head coach of the G League's Stockton Kings. Notably, he was part of the 2017 gold medal-winning USA AmeriCup Team. Hammon seems to keenly anticipate his contributions, saying, "I’m super excited to add Ty Ellis to our coaching staff," as noted by News3LV. She also praised his "energy palpable" enthusiasm, along with his work ethic and character.

With top assistants Natalie Nakase and Tyler Marsh now heading the Golden State Valkyries and Chicago Sky, respectively, the Aces are in a period of adjustment, also seeking a new general manager after not renewing the contract of Natalie Williams. As reported by FOX5 Vegas, Ellis is no stranger to the responsibilities that come with NBA affiliations, having previously worked with the Phoenix Suns during the 2017-18 season.

The team's social media post welcomed Ellis with open arms: "OFFICIAL: The Aces have added Ty Ellis to its coaching staff," and encouraged fans to welcome him to Las Vegas using the hashtag #ALLINLV. The Aces community is clearly eager to see how Ellis' seasoned coaching acumen will translate into on-court performance as the 2025 season approaches.
