Las Vegas residents and visitors should prepare for major road closures from Wednesday next week to Sunday as the F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix approaches. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) announced on Facebook post that these closures will ensure safety during the event, which is expected to attract large crowds.
Starting at 12:01 a.m. next Wednesday, closures will affect major roads such as Las Vegas Blvd., Koval Lane, Harmon Ave., Sands Ave., Flamingo Road, and Spring Mountain. These shutdowns are necessary for setting up and taking down race infrastructure, including barricades and stands.
Even outside of closure times, lanes will be reduced, and traffic will be heavier than usual. Detours via Maryland Parkway or Valley View Blvd. are recommended, and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department advises using the F1 Las Vegas App for up-to-date traffic information.
With significant delays expected, it’s recommended to plan routes carefully and limit travel to essential trips in affected areas. To receive traffic updates, residents can text F1LV to 31996 for alerts on their mobile devices.
