The holiday season has arrived, and it's ripe with opportunities for generosity in League City. For those looking to play Santa to someone in need, local initiatives are providing ways to spread cheer to your neighbors.
League City Fire Department is collaborating with Interfaith Caring Ministries on a food drive, running until this Friday. Residents are encouraged to contribute non-perishable, unexpired food items at the Fire Administration Office on West Walker Street. Gravy mix, cornbread mix, and other holiday staples are among the suggested donations to help stock the local pantry, which is essential for less fortunate members of our community, and to make a difference in the lives of many.
Furthermore, the League City Police Department is preparing for the Blue Santa program's “Shop With a Cop/Firefighter” event, scheduled to take place in less than three weeks. According to the League City announcement, Blue Santa is currently gathering monetary contributions and Target gift cards, which will allow about 100 children from roughly 30 families the chance to pick out gifts alongside local police officers and firefighters.z
The Community Toy Drive is underway, and donations of new, unwrapped toys are being accepted at locations like the Helen Hall Library and City Hall until December 5. The toys will be collected by Interfaith Caring Ministries and used to stock a "toy store" where parents in need can find gifts for their children, ensuring a meaningful holiday experience.
