
An individual has died following a vehicle crash in Lincoln County, North Carolina, when they lost control of their car and struck a tree. As reported to WBTV, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol informed that the accident occurred near Salem Church Road and Salem Avenue around 11:20 a.m. yesterday. The driver, identified as 31-year-old Dominique Devon Morrison, was driving a 2012 Hyundai Sonata.
Troopers disclosed that Morrison was traveling north when he veered off the right side of the road and, after overcorrecting, he went off the left side, collided with a fence, and then with a tree, as Queen City News described. It was also noted that Morrison was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle.
Morrison was pronounced deceased at the scene. Investigation by the State Highway Patrol pointed to excessive speed as a likely contributing factor in the incident, according to details provided by WCCB Charlotte. Following the crash, Salem Church Road was reportedly closed for about two hours while cleanup and investigation by emergency crews ensued.
