
A Ludington community is grappling with the aftermath of a violent confrontation between two teenagers that has left a 16-year-old boy hospitalized with a stab wound. The incident, which occurred near Legacy Plaza in Ludington on Friday evening, has raised concerns among residents and local authorities alike.
According to reports from FOX 17, the stabbing happened before 7:40 p.m. in an alley behind West Ludington Avenue. A physical altercation escalated when the suspect, another Ludington youth, allegedly drew a knife and stabbed the victim in the back, "a 17-year-old suspect, a Ludington resident, ran off toward Legacy Plaza," after the incident, until a call to 911 by a witness led to his arrest.
The victim was transported to the hospital in serious but stable condition, as confirmed by the Ludington Police Department (LPD). The WOOD TV report adds that the fight took place in an alleyway in the area of W Ludington Avenue and S James Street, leading to the life-threatening injury.
Efforts by law enforcement and local first responders, including Life EMS and firefighters, were highlighted by the LPD for their quick response to the emergency. The 17-year-old suspect was later found and taken into custody with the help of the Mason County Sheriff’s Office, the LPD elaborated, he remains in juvenile detention awaiting arraignment.
