A fatal incident occurred on the streets of North Lawndale Wednesday evening when a 44-year-old man was tragically killed in a hit-and-run collision. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the man was attempting to cross the road around 7:45 p.m. in the 1300 block of South Central Park Avenue when he was hit by an SUV.
The vehicle involved was described as a sports utility vehicle, which, after striking the pedestrian, reportedly continued to drive southward. Despite briskly being taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, the man was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival. The CBS Chicago news report indicated the collision occurred as the victim walked through the intersection of 13th Street and Central Park Avenue when he was hit.
Currently, there has been no update on any potential suspects, as no one was in custody in relation to the incident late Wednesday.
