A recent shooting incident in Jackson Heights, Queens, has left a local man hospitalized with a leg wound. The 32-year-old victim was shot in the leg through his apartment door early this morning. The incident occurred on 83 Street near Northern Blvd around 5 a.m., and the man was subsequently taken to Elmhurst Hospital in stable condition, according to NBC New York.
The New York Daily News reports that the gunshot was the result of a conflict involving neighbors. Two men, purported to supposedly be the victim's neighbors, fled the building after the shooting and were last seen heading north on 83rd St. No arrests have been made, and the authorities are still trying to piece together the events leading up to the gunshot wound.
Police responding to the call found a bullet hole in the apartment's front door and applied a tourniquet to the man's leg to control the bleeding. The victim knew his attackers, though the motive behind the shooting was not immediately disclosed. "A bullet fired by a neighbor exploded through his apartment door," according to witness accounts relayed by New York Daily News. The victim was treated at the hospital for what was described as a minor wound.
The description of one suspect has been provided by cops as a man wearing a blue bubble jacket, gray pants, a white Yankees hat, and white sneakers. The other man was described wearing a gray bubble jacket, gray sweatpants, and to be sporting a dark-colored Yankees hat.
