A community in Avon Park is grappling with the aftermath of a deadly shooting that occurred Monday evening at a local basketball court. The Highlands County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that they responded to a call at around 6:18 p.m. on Fred Conner Street following reports of gunfire. Once on scene, deputies discovered an adult male lying on the ground, who was subsequently taken to the hospital and pronounced dead, WFLA reports.
