A tragic altercation occurring early Saturday outside a North Side San Antonio restaurant left one man dead, a family in mourning, and a suspect on the run. The San Antonio Police Department is actively searching for the man accused of fatally shooting his girlfriend's father following an argument that began at a nearby bar, as reported by KSAT.
Responding to an incident around 12:15 a.m. at Taco Palenque on Blanco Road, officers discovered that the dispute had escalated dramatically when the woman's father approached the suspect's vehicle, only to be shot multiple times. The victim, identified as 43-year-old Christopher Fuentes, was pronounced dead at the scene. In the warm glow of the family, Fuentes is remembered as the "cool guy of the family," a devout man who saw the good in others and is now being hailed as a hero by his daughter, as per a statement obtained by KENS 5.
The San Antonio Police Department states that the situation became deadly when the suspect, whose identity remains unknown, left the scene of the first altercation and later confronted the two victims at the restaurant, resulting in a fatal shooting. Afterward, the suspect reportedly fled in his vehicle. Although no other injuries were reported, the daughter was able to find safety inside the Taco Palenque, according to KENS 5.
The family, dealing with their sudden loss, has come together to create a GoFundMe page to help cover Fuentes' burial costs, as per KENS 5. The authorities are asking anyone with information about the suspect to come forward. Investigators are still working to piece together what led to Fuentes' death and are searching for the man who turned a family argument into a tragic situation.
