The authorities have expanded its K9 unit, welcoming a new four-legged officer. According to a recent post by the Mansfield Police Department's official Facebook page, K9 Tex and his handler, Officer Frank Kee Jr., have completed an intensive training program and are now ready to hit the streets.
The department welcomes K9 Tex, who joins Officer Kee as their second K9 team. Officer Kee and Tex bonded during a tough 4-week training at Hill Country Dog Center, focusing on patrol and narcotics detection. With seven years of K9 training experience and a 2021 decoy certification, Officer Kee has worked nationwide with military K9 competitions and handlers.
Mansfield Police's announcement was met with supportive comments from the community, reflecting a shared sense of pride in the department's efforts to maintain public safety. "We want to thank you all for your continued support as we carry out our mission to foster and maintain a safe community," the Mansfield Police Department stated, clearly indicating the department's gratitude toward the community's backing.
