The Marysville Police Department is increasing speed law enforcement on State Avenue and SR 529 due to a rise in speed-related crashes. To improve safety and reduce accidents, officers from the Traffic Unit will closely monitor motorists' speed limits, especially in high-traffic and construction zones, as per the City of Marysville's official website.
Drivers are reminded of the clear speed limits: it's 30 MPH from State Ave. and 1st St. south to the SR 529 roundabout and drops to 15 MPH within the roundabout. The limit returns to 30 MPH as drivers enter Marysville from SR 529/I-5. This area has had issues with speeding, and signs are posted to remind drivers of the law.
To ensure this advisory is noticed, Marysville's Traffic Unit has issued 591 citations this year on SR 529. Additionally, there have been 25 arrests for traffic-related offenses.
Speeding, often by 20-30 MPH over the limit, poses a serious risk to both drivers and road workers.
