The search for a missing 31-year-old Maui woman, Hannah Kobayashi, has intensified after she disappeared during a layover at Los Angeles International Airport en route to New York. According to KTLA, the last message Kobayashi sent to her family suggested she was afraid someone was trying to steal her money and identity. Standing 5 feet, 10 inches tall, and weighing about 140 pounds with brown hair, brown eyes, and fair skin with freckles, her family is seeking the community's aid to locate her.
In what appears a concerning twist, Kobayashi, who had plans to attend an event in New York, missed her connecting flight and instead visited The Grove for a LeBron James event, before her communications took a turn for the bizarre. "Strange, cryptic messages – things about the matrix, it was so unlike her," her aunt, Larie Pidgeon, expressed in an interview obtained by KTLA. Kobayashi's phone has since been non-responsive.
Her father, Ryan Kobayashi, detailed that Hanna is a regular traveler who has never lost touch like this before. "She's been to Europe, Japan, but it's just never happened where she's not in touch with anybody," Ryan told ABC7. The case has gained additional public attention through social media, with a post on Hannah's Instagram account and a subsequent YouTube video surfacing that seem to place her at The Grove. Although Hannah's phone last pinged at LAX, all communication ceased shortly after.
