Tragedy struck a Flint community this week as police disclosed the identity of the motorcyclist killed in a crash near McLaren Flint Hospital on Tuesday afternoon. The accident occurred at the intersection of Sunset and Brentwood drives, as reported by multiple local news sources. The motorcyclist, identified by the Flint Police Department as 33-year-old Simranpal Singh Deol, a physician with McLaren Flint's family medicine residency program, was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to ABC12, the incident transpired when Deol, riding eastbound on Sunset Drive, collided with a burgundy Oldsmobile sedan. When the crash occurred, the car was reportedly turning left onto Brentwood Drive, hurling Deol from his yellow motorcycle.
Investigators are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision. Despite preliminary findings by the Flint Police Department suggesting that Deol was not intoxicated, they believe speed could likely have been a contributory factor. A report by Mlive further informs us of the ongoing investigation, urging anyone with information to contact the authorities.
