
Memphis police are actively investigating a bank robbery that unfolded at the First South Financial Credit Union on South Highland Avenue on Friday afternoon. According to Action News 5, officers responded to the crime scene before noon after the incident was reported.
Shortly after the robbery was reported, just after 11 a.m., police began to actively search for the suspect in the vicinity of the Highland Strip. Memphis Police confirmed the details of the armed robbery to FOX13, indicating that the search was still underway as of 11:15 a.m. It remains unclear if the suspect escaped with any stolen money.
The scene at 633 S. Highland was encompassed with police activity as officers combed through the area on foot and by helicopter in pursuit of the suspect. WREG reported there has been no description released of the suspect nor confirmation of whether any cash was successfully taken from the credit union.
The Memphis Police Department has not yet to publicly release detailed information about the suspect or the exact nature of the crime.
