A recent surge in juvenile crime has shocked the Memphis community after five young individuals, aged 12 to 16, were arrested following a series of robberies and an ensuing police chase. The series of events unfolded late Friday night and continued into the early hours of Saturday, with a total of seven incidents being reported to authorities, as Local Memphis has detailed.

According to WREG, the crime spree began around 10 p.m. at Patterson Street and Mynders Avenue, where a man was held at gunpoint and robbed of his phone, debit card, and ID by several suspects who fled in a dark-colored sedan. Subsequently, a black Kia Soul was reported stolen from the East High School parking lot, with reports later connecting this vehicle to multiple robberies across the city. The suspected juveniles escalated their aggressive tactics, with one victim on Madison Avenue recounting how his wallet was forcibly taken at gunpoint.

As the night's criminal drama extended into midnight, a woman experienced a harrowing ordeal when a gunman tried to enter her car and shot at her as she drove away from her driveway on Minden Road, fortunately sustaining no injuries despite her vehicle being hit by bullets, as per Action News 5. Eventually, law enforcement tracked the aforementioned Kia Soul near Poplar Avenue and Cooper Street, leading to a high-speed chase culminating in the suspects' capture assisted by a Tennessee Highway Patrol helicopter.

The aftermath of the chase saw the apprehension of all five suspects, ranging from the youngest, a 12-year-old girl, to a 16-year-old boy, each facing various charges related to the spree. "A 16-year-old boy was charged with aggravated assault, aggravated robbery, evading arrest in an automobile, evading arrest on foot, reckless driving, and theft of property $2,500-$10,000," while the other four juveniles were charged with offenses including evading arrest and theft, shared Local Memphis in their report.
