The City of Mentor is searching for local citizens eager to shape their community by serving on various boards and commissions. According to a recent announcement, the city needs to fill positions on six boards and commissions, all assigned to volunteers eager to contribute their time and expertise for the betterment of the community.
The volunteering opportunities include a spot on the Board of Building & Zoning Appeals, the Municipal Planning Commission, and the Civil Service Commission, with each role spanning a 4-year term ending December 31, 2028. Additionally, the city is seeking eight volunteers for the Community Arts Commission for 3-year terms, a member for the Fair Housing Board, and another for the Tree Commission, concluding on the same day. Despite the vacancies, the city maintains a sense of normalcy, as the roles are regularly refreshed and invite fresh perspectives into the local governance.
Prospective volunteers should note that applications and résumés are due by 5:00 p.m. on December 15, as outlined on the City of Mentor's official website. To be eligible, applicants must be electors of the City of Mentor and should reach out to Julie A. Schiavoni, the Clerk of Council, for additional details. Schiavoni can be contacted at her email, [email protected], or by phone at 440-974-5700.
