Chaos erupted in Mesa Verde late Friday night when local deputies were called to a scene of reported gunfire and a violent dispute. According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, multiple witnesses dialed 911 on November 7, after 39-year-old Christopher Felix allegedly engaged in a heated altercation with neighbors at approximately 11:46 p.m. on the 18000 block of Eureka Drive, which swiftly escalated.
Felix retreated into his home, emerged with a firearm, and fired five or six shots. Fortunately, no one was hit. Deputies from the Colorado River Sheriff’s Station, with support from the California Highway Patrol and Blythe Police Department, surrounded his home and persuaded him to surrender peacefully, as reported by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
A search warrant executed at Felix's abode confirmed the presence and recent use of the weapon, setting the stage for Felix's subsequent arrest and his being charged with assault with a deadly weapon. He was transported to Blythe Jail as the investigators continued to thread together the evening's volatile events.
