Bringing a new hub for recreation and community gathering, the City of Mesquite proudly announces the opening of its very first skatepark, which will be located at the Westlake Sports Center. As per a recent statement by the City of Mesquite, the Mesquite Skatepark at 601 Gross Road is set to open its doors on November 9, designed to cater to skateboarders of diverse skill levels.

The facility boasts a range of amenities, including a four-foot bowl and three main lanes featuring bank ramps, quarter pipes, grind boxes, and rails. In addition, the park offers a separate area specifically for beginners. A shaded area will also provide comfort for spectators who want to watch skaters in action. “We’re thrilled to bring this to our community,” Elizabeth Harrell, Mesquite's Parks and Recreation Director, highlighted in the City of Mesquite's announcement. She pointed out that a skatepark was highly requested according to the Parks and Recreation Master Plan.

An official grand opening event for the Mesquite Skatepark is scheduled from 2-4 p.m. on the day of the launch, with the public invited to attend. The event will not only showcase skateboarding demonstrations from professionals associated with the park's designer American Ramp Company but will also encourage guests to bring their own skateboards to test out the new park. Complimentary hot dogs are on the menu, offering a treat for early attendees.

Accessibility extends beyond the opening day. The skatepark outlines a membership model, with annual passes available at $25 for residents and $35 for non-residents. Daily passes are also an option, priced at $5 for residents and $10 for nonresidents. The park's operating hours have been announced as 12-9 p.m. from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, and 12-6 p.m. on Sunday.
