The Miami Beach Fire Department's Public Safety Communications Division has reached a significant milestone, achieving its third recertification as an Accredited Center of Excellence (ACE) for emergency medical dispatching by The International Academies of Emergency Dispatch® (IAED). This accolade denotes the department’s adherence to the highest standards set for emergency communications centers globally, according to an announcement on the city's official website.
Garnering such recognition indicates more than just meeting benchmarks; it reflects an unwavering commitment to critical oversight, systematic quality assurance, and the pursuit of continuous enhancement in operations. This distinction places the Miami Beach team in a distinguished group of one of only 11 dispatch agencies worldwide that currently hold a “Tri-ACE” accreditation—a noteworthy feat among 4,080 centers employing these protocols, as the article on Miami Beach’s official website points out.
The IAED lauds the center for achieving ACE status as being a pinnacle representatives of dispatch proficiency. Miami Beach Fire Chief Digna Abello told the city's news service, “This achievement is a testament to the dedication and professionalism of our team.”
The distinction, originally obtained in November 2018, was successfully recertified in 2021, and now again in 2024. To formalize this recognition the IAED is set to present the Miami Beach Public Safety Communications Division with an Accreditation plaque at the Navigator Conference, which will take place in Orlando, Florida in April 2025. “Accreditation is truly a pinnacle achievement”, said Christof Chwojka, Accreditation Board Chair at IAED, in a statement obtained by the city's official website.
