Thanksgiving Day carried a grim reminder of the fragility of life as detectives scoured the scene of a hit-and-run just outside Miami International Airport. In the early hours, at approximately 3:55 a.m., Miami-Dade Police were summoned to 2100 NW 42nd Ave., where a man was found injured following a vehicle collision, as reported by Local 10 News. The injured party, whose identity remains unreleased, received prompt attention from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition.
The ongoing investigation, spearheaded by Miami-Dade Police's Traffic Homicide Unit, faces challenges, notably the absence of a vehicle description. Spokeswoman Detective Andre D. Martin highlighted that authorities have not yet released specifics about the car involved. In a turn of urgency, Detective Martin encouraged public cooperation, asking anyone with information to reach out to Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477, as stated by CBS News Miami.
Despite the severity of the morning's events, airport officials confirmed that Miami International Airport's operations continued normally, with lanes that were once closed after the incident now reopened, as per information provided by NBC Miami. Officials stressed that outbound traffic from the airport was impacted, but normalization swiftly followed.
