A Midland, Pennsylvania resident has been sentenced to a four-year prison term for possession of child sexual abuse material. According to a statement released by the U.S. Attorney's Office, James Davis, 58, will also face five years of federal supervised release after serving his time behind bars.
U.S. District Judge Robert J. Colville, who handed down the sentence yesterday, ordered Davis to pay mandatory special assessments and restitution to his victims. Davis had entered a guilty plea on June 11, 2021, admitting to possessing material that depicted the sexual exploitation of minors. Judge Colville highlighted the severe nature of the offense as well as the extreme harm suffered by Davis’s victims when imposing the sentence.
Assistant United States Attorney Nicole A. Stockey led the prosecution of this case. United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan expressed appreciation to the Federal Bureau of Investigation for conducting the investigation that ultimately led to Davis's conviction.
This sentencing comes as part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative by the Department of Justice to aggressively track down and prosecute individuals involved in child sexual exploitation. Launched in May 2006, the project aims to bring together federal, state, and local resources to locate better and rescue victims. The initiative also seeks to ensure perpetrators are held accountable for their actions.
