Two Midlothian police officers, Corporal Allen Crawford and Officer Nicklaus VanDerkar, have been commended for their swift response in apprehending an individual caught trespassing on a construction site. According to a social media post by the Midlothian Police Department in Texas, the recognition came courtesy of Radius Security, who provided the officers with plaques.

The incident took place on October 20, just past 11 PM, when Radius Security, tasked with monitoring the construction zone at the new City Hall/Library complex, spotted someone illicitly entering the area and attempting to use the construction equipment. The perpetrator was detained by Officer VanDerkar and Corporal Crawford arriving at the scene, following a rapid dispatch after Radius reported the crime to the Northern Ellis Emergency Dispatch. Charged with Criminal Trespass, the subject found quickly that their night trespass would lead to their arrest.

Beyond the act of recognition, Radius Security also shared with Midlothian PD staff details regarding their “Redhanded” detection technology. This technology played a pivotal role in identifying the trespassing individual which, in turn, led to the quick apprehension.

As a token of appreciation, Radius didn't just stop at the awarding of plaques; they went above and beyond, providing dinner and snacks for the entirety of B-Watch Nights officers. The gesture was a savory finish to an evening already made significant by the acknowledgment of commendable police work. Not just stopping at nourishing the officers with food, Radius fueled the department with a renewed sense of partnership and community support.
