Minneapolis residents are in for a windy and snowy end to the week, as the National Weather Service has issued a forecast highlighting breezy conditions, with wind gusts potentially reaching up to 35 mph. According to the weather forecast, the area experienced patchy blowing snow this morning, and though it's expected to ease up, the cloudy skies with a high near 39 degrees will remain steadfast.
Tonight's outlook won't bring much reprieve from the wind, which could blow as hard as 30 mph; however, temperatures will hover around the freezing mark. Into the weekend, Minneapolis is set to see cloudy skies gradually give way to more sunshine with high temperatures persisting in the upper 30s, while a slight chance of rain and snow mix might mark Sunday's weather, especially in the early afternoon hours.
In their Hazardous Weather Outlook, the National Weather Service of Twin Cities/Chanhassen MN notes that these breezy conditions will extend across central and southern Minnesota to western Wisconsin today before calming down in the evening. No hazardous weather is expected for the subsequent days, Friday through Wednesday, which hints at a stretch of calmer weeks ahead.
The National Weather Service has not called for SKYWARN spotter activation, assuring that the rough patch of wind doesn't necessitate increased weather surveillance for now, a situation that could change if the weather takes a harder turn for the worse but for now it seems most of the hazard will be the nuisance of gusty winds sweeping through Minneapolis streets and shaking the yet-to-fall autumn leaves from their stubborn branches.
