An explosion at a northwest Houston business yesterday afternoon resulted in shattered windows, damaged automobiles, and one person sustaining minor injuries. According to Click2Houston, the incident happened just before 2 p.m. at 4514 Brittmoore Rd. where workers were testing new oil field equipment. The explosion did not involve fire, but the force was enough to send shrapnel flying, impacting surrounding structures and vehicles.
Officials revealed that the explosion was ignited by a pressurized tank or vessel during the oil field tool testing. Having rushed to the business located west of Beltway 8 and north of Clay Road, Cy-Fair Fire Department confirmed the blast and clarified that, except for the minor injuries incurred by one evaluated at the hospital and later released, no other casualties had been reported. Social media was tumultuous with reports of the explosion, as residents experienced a loud "boom" and shaking—leading KHOU 11's Meteorologist Chris Ramirez to note that his parent's home door in north Houston was similarly shook, KHOU 11 reported.
The aftermath of the blast led to an array of minor damages to nearby buildings, including shattered glass and roof damage, with neighboring businesses reporting the said impact. The Harris County Fire Marshal's Office also responded to the scene, as confirmed during a news conference held yesterday afternoon. In the wake of the explosion, investigations commenced to determine the precise cause and to assess the extent of the damages incurred.
