Stanislaus County District Attorney Jeff Laugero announced the conviction of Charles Ross, age 46, of Modesto, on multiple charges, including being a felon in possession of a gun. According to a post from the official Stanislaus County District Attorney's Facebook page, the jury delivered the conviction which also encompassed having a loaded firearm while possessing cocaine and other related charges.
Derived from the October 20, 2020 incident, Ross was initially stopped for a traffic violation when Modesto Police Officers discovered a loaded firearm and cocaine in his vehicle. Prohibited from owning firearms due to his status as a convicted felon, Ross found himself in violation of the law once again. Pulled over for a basic traffic stop, the officers had no expectation to uncover the criminal offenses lying within Ross’s car, as reported by the Stanislaus County District Attorney.
According to the Stanislaus County District Attorney, Ross is facing a sentence of up to 4 years in prison, with his sentencing date set for January 3, 2025. Deputy District Attorney George Biko, who prosecuted the case for the People, was the leading figure in securing this verdict.
