A Monroe County woman has been taken into custody following an incident where she allegedly stabbed her husband during an early morning dispute. This incident occurred around 2:20 a.m. today in Bedford Township on the 6800 block of South Telegraph Road.
The victim initially called dispatchers asking for help but was unresponsive at first and disconnected the call. He later revealed to dispatchers that he had been stabbed, necessaily prompting deputies from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office to respond to the scene. As reported by The Detroit News, officers found the man with a knife wound to his hand.
The altercation between the man and his 37-year-old wife reportedly escalated, with investigators believing that it was the wife who stabbed her husband post a disagreement. According to ClickOnDetroit, she has been charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder.
Details regarding the wife's identity have not been released, as she awaits formal arraignment. Monroe County Sheriff's deputies continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the stabbing. Sheriff Troy Goodnough commended the dispatch staff, stating "We want to commend the staff at Monroe County Central Dispatch for being diligent and not just accepting the fact the victim refused to cooperate in order to send the appropriate services to resolve the situation and provide medical care," as shared by The Detroit News.
