More than a dozen Jackson County high school drumlines will share the stage with the Detroit Lions Drumline on Thursday, November 5, when Jackson College hosts its annual Percussion Concussion concert at the Potter Center's Harold Sheffer Music Hall. The show runs from 7:15 p.m. to 10 p.m., and the professional drumline will wrap up the night after conducting pre-show clinics for the visiting student groups.

A Night Built Around Clinics and a Closing Set

According to MLive, the Detroit Lions Drumline will lead the 2026 edition of Percussion Concussion, conducting pre-show clinics for more than 12 high school drumlines before closing out the evening's performances. Jackson College's own event page lists the Lions' drumline providing those clinics and finishing the show, and names Jackson High, Northwest, Western High, Michigan Center, Columbia Central, Springport, Napoleon, Lumen Christi, Addison, The George Crockett Academy and Mason among the scheduled performers, according to Jackson College.

The event doubles as a recruitment opportunity for Jackson College's own performance ensembles, the school's events page notes. Those ensembles, which continue to meet and welcome new members, include the Jazzy Jets, Community Concert Band, Vocal Point and JC Drumline, per the same listing.

Tickets, Merch and a Long Local Tradition

Tickets for the evening cost $15 each or two for $25, and they're available through the Potter Center box office at 517-796-8600 or at the door, per the seed facts behind MLive's report. Event T-shirts will also be sold for $15 each or two for $25, with this year's accent color set as electric pink, according to Jackson College.

Percussion Concussion has become a recurring fixture at Jackson College, with past editions drawing on the same mix of area drumlines and Detroit Lions-affiliated performers. The 2025 show, held Nov. 6 at the same Harold Sheffer Music Hall, featured the Detroit Lions Drumline — also known as the Honolulu Boom — alongside a lineup of area school drumlines and offered similar pre-show clinics, as reported by JTV. That event's tickets were likewise priced at $15 each or two for $25.

The tradition stretches back further still. The 2023 event, held Nov. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the same venue, featured drumlines from 12 Jackson County-area high school marching bands with the Detroit Lions Honolulu Boom Drumline headlining, according to MLive's 2023 coverage. Two years earlier, the 2021 concert brought drumlines from Jackson, Lumen Christi, Mason, Michigan Center, Northwest, Napoleon, Springport and Western high schools to the same stage, as mlive.com reported at the time.
