As the calendar marks nine years since a senseless act of violence took the life of 11-year-old David McIntyre, his mother, Amanda Gordon, continues to seek answers. In an incident that remains as mysterious as it was tragic, David was playing video games with his brother CJ on November 1, 2015, when a gunman walked into their Mt. Oliver home and opened fire. Gordon stated, as per WTAE, "I will always have hope. I mean, there's times I lose my faith, but I will always have hope."
Suffering from not just the loss of her son but the absence of closure, Gordon is pleading for those with any shred of knowledge to come forward. "Now is the time. You know, even if you sit there and you're toying with, ‘I don't know, maybe. Yes, no, maybe so,’ that little piece of evidence could be, or information, could be the most vital piece that busts the case open," she stated in an emotional appeal, as reported by WTAE.
Despite the passage of time, Allegheny County Police maintain that the case is still "open and active." David's life, brutally cut short before he could even finish the sixth grade, has left a void in a mother's heart, a family's life, and a community's sense of security. Struggling with the day-to-day absence of her son, Gordon said, per CBS News Pittsburgh, "I just miss everything about him."
The identity of the gunman remains unknown to her. She is encouraging anyone with relevant information to call Allegheny County Police at 1-833-ALL-TIPS, with anonymity assured.
