A routine traffic stop in Mt. Juliet yesterday took a surprising turn, leading to the arrest of two men with a litany of active warrants spanning several counties and states, the Mt. Juliet Police Department reported. During the stop on Pleasant Grove Road, which was initially for an improper rear license plate display, authorities identified mismatches between the vehicle and its temporary tag, as first noted by WKRN.
Upon further investigation, the driver, a 35-year-old Chattanooga man, was operating the vehicle with a revoked license and was found to be wanted for failure to appear on a dangerous drug charge out of Georgia, a similar charge in Sumner County, a shoplifting charge in Rutherford County, and two additional failure-to-appear warrants from Bradley County, including another from Florida, "This seemingly minor violation led to a significant find," an official statement by MJPD published on social media said the passenger, a 39-year-old from La Vergne, had his array of legal troubles: two failure-to-appear warrants in Nashville for felon in possession of a weapon and driving on a suspended license, as well as warrants out of Wilson County for failure to appear on a suspended license charge and simple possession of drugs, the Mt. Juliet Police Department shared in a social media post.
