A fatal collision on West Main Street in Lebanon that occurred on the evening of September 24 led to the arrest of Murfreesboro man Terry Elmore on charges related to the incident. Elmore, 41, is accused of aggravated vehicular homicide following the multi-vehicle crash that claimed the life of Juanita Birdsong, also of Lebanon. WSMV reports that the mishap occurred in front of Wilson Bank & Trust, where Lebanon police discovered the scene and promptly requested additional support due to the severity of the crash.
Authorities identified the severely injured drivers as Birdsong and Elmore; Birdsong was pronounced dead at the scene, while Elmore received care and was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. According to the Wilson County Source, the Lebanon Police Department's traffic unit was summoned to investigate the devastating crash.
Throughout the investigation, evidence surfaced that led officers to charge Elmore. "Due to the severity of the accident, our traffic unit was called in to investigate the crash," the Lebanon Police Department stated, as obtained by WSMV. The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office later apprehended Elmore and, following his arrest, booked into the Wilson County Jail. His bond was set at $400,000.
The investigation into the deadly crash continues, with officials noting that details surrounding the case are "very limited." The public awaits further updates as Elmore's involvement and the circumstances leading up to the tragedy remain under scrutiny. WKRN shared that while Elmore is on bond, authorities have not immediately released additional information.
