Austin's nightlife scene just gained a new hotspot with the opening of Tiger Lilly, a cocktail lounge and event venue situated in the heart of downtown at 400 Colorado St., the former location of Estelle's cocktail bar. Scheduled to entertain patrons from Thursday through Saturday, 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., the venue promises a mix of indulgent drinks and a space that retains much of the previous establishment’s charm. ATXtoday reports that the layout, furniture, and decor, including the first-floor bar with its feathery chandeliers and the basement speakeasy, remain nearly identical to Estelle’s.
Matt Wolski and Pursuit Concepts, the forces behind popular spots like the Racquet Social Club and Parlor & Yard, are steering this new venture. Tiger Lilly isn’t merely an ode to Austinites' thirst for expertly crafted cocktails—it also tips a hat to the city’s love for vibrant social spaces. Events will have a place within its walls, alongside the cocktail lounge operations, as indicated in the ATXtoday article. Individuals interested in hosting events can reach out via a contact form or seek inspiration in their guide to wedding venues around Austin.
The cocktail program is curated by Caesar Schmig, a mixologist with prior experience at notable bars including Garage Bar, Comedor, and Idle Hands. Patrons can expect innovative concoctions like the "Elote," featuring a unique chili-infused mezcal and blanco tequila mix, as MySA details. Other signature drinks include the "Tiger Lilly" and "The Rocco," combining distinct ingredients for an unforgettable taste experience.
While food will not initially be on the menu, Tiger Lilly has plans for kitchen pop-ups in the looming months. The space itself, curated by designer Chelsea Kloss in collaboration with LV Collective, marries luxurious greens and creams to create a lavish yet comfortable atmosphere. Music will also be a mainstay, with resident DJs Saint Spicer and Alex Alfonso setting the mood for an exuberant night out on the town.
