The Hastings neighborhood is set to benefit from a new community center and library. A groundbreaking ceremony was held last Friday for the development, located at 401 N. Main St. The facility will feature an updated library and a flexible community center to serve the needs of local residents. This project aims to provide a space for education and community activities, according to the St. Johns County.

The new center is expected to play a key role in supporting local growth by providing books, technology, and information, while also hosting community events. "We are excited to see this project come to life, which will serve as an anchor for the Hastings community," said St. Johns County District 2 Commissioner Sarah Arnold.

The new library project in Hastings is designed to include modern amenities, spacious meeting rooms, an events area, and an outdoor gathering space. This development supports St. Johns County's goals to improve infrastructure and enhance the quality of life for local residents. At the ceremony, local leaders and residents expressed their support, recognizing the project's importance. The planning process involved input from community members and organizations. Debra Rhodes Gibson, Director of the St. Johns County Public Library System, emphasized the library’s role as a community hub: “Whether it’s for a program, a class, or just to check out a book, this space will be a true reflection of the spirit and diversity of our community.” The project is partially funded by the State of Florida and the Department of State’s Division of Library and Information Services, with completion expected in 2025.
