Motorists in Eden will soon be able to smoothly handle vehicle-related paperwork at a new location starting next Tuesday. According to an announcement by the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles, a license plate agency (LPA) closed since late September will be reborn at a fresh site on Tuesday. The former office at 712 Washington St. shuttered when the operator's contract concluded on September 28, 2023. Alice Parrish, who also runs the Reidsville LPA, is set to operate the new establishment located at 600 Washington St., Suite B.
Efficiency is key for those looking to quickly to manage their vehicle services, and the new Eden LPA intends to serve that need weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the doors closed on state holidays. Interestingly, the NCDMV does not directly manage LPAs; instead, they oversee the agencies while private businesses or local governments take the helm in management. This operational model is consistent across North Carolina, a state home to 123 license plate agencies. The official NCDOT announcement details the services offered by LPAs, including vehicle registration and title transactions, alongside renewals of vehicle license plates, replacement tags, and provision of handicap placards and duplicate registrations.
This move comes after the community has had to navigate for several months without a local license plate agency. There is an acknowledgment from the Eden community of the inconvenience caused during this interim. The reopening, thus, is anticipated to be met with both relief and appreciation by residents who require accessible vehicle registration and other associated services.
