The San Francisco Police Department officers utilized mobile security units, public safety cameras, and a drone to arrest a suspect linked to a theft at a Walgreens store in the Southern District. The incident, announced by SFPD Chief Bill Scott, occurred just after noon when two individuals took merchandise totaling over $2,500 and fled the premises on the 400 block of Mission Street last Wednesday.
Internal sharing of the store's surveillance footage led to the fast identification of the subjects. In a coordinated effort, officers employed a mobile security unit supplied by LiveView Technologies and public safety cameras located at 24th and Mission Streets to spot a person matching the description of one of the suspects. According to the San Francisco Police Department, police deployed a drone to provide aerial support as patrol officers engaged in an on-foot pursuit.
The effort culminated in the arrest of 23-year-old Taji Muhammed, who faced charges including second-degree burglary, grand theft, organized retail theft, and resisting arrest. The recovered stolen goods were returned to the business.
